Born and raised in South Central, Los Angeles, Vanessa Rochelle Lewis (MFA) is a Queer, Fat, Black, Femme performer, facilitator, educator, writer, activist, healer, joyful weirdo, and Faerie Princess Mermaid Gangsta for The Revolution. She is currently the Founding Director of Reclaim UGLY. Reclaim UGLY invites people to reclaim the parts of their body, identity, desires, and histories that have been uglified by abuse, trauma, and systems of oppression; while striving to not uglify others. Our tagline us, Reclaim Uplift Glorify Love Yourself and create a world where others can as well.

About My Workshop
Please join Vanessa Rochelle Lewis for a Reclaim UGLY Revolutionary Storytelling Circle. In this circle, we will revisit instances in our young life where we knew our truth, knew our power, and strived to take care of ourselves in the exact ways we needed; but in ways that the world around us did not understand. We will meet the parts of ourselves that were uglified into silence, submission, or shame and lift them up with celebration and reverence. We will identify the ways that oppression indoctrinated the hearts/understandings of the people who loved us and cared about us, leading them to interfere with our power and magic. And we will forgive those who silenced and repressed us, including ourselves, with a sacred fuck you to the ideologies and uglifications that interfered with our power, freedom, and joy.
