Rumi Rivera-Lovata

Collaborator - Tech Support

Rumaldo (or Rumi for short) Rivera-Lovato (he/they) was born and raised in Cheyenne, Arapaho, and Ute homelands. He remained there throughout his teenage years and emerging adult years. They earned two bachelor's degrees from Colorado State University in Ethnic Studies and Women's and Gender Studies. Currently, he reside in Potawatomi, Ottawa, and Ojibwe homelands. They are a case manager working with people experiencing severe mental illnesses. He is also continuing his education at DePaul University, where he's pursuing a Masters of Social Work, Masters of Women's and Gender Studies, and Critical Ethnic Studies Certificate. It is their conviction that a more intimate understanding of colonialism garners more fruitful analyses of oppression in this settler nation-state. He believes that we need decolonial and multiracial feminist praxes for liberation. For those reasons, he is thrilled to be involved in this retreat and strives to contribute to our collective knowledge and power.
